This 15 day tour takes in Myanmar in all its diversity, from the glistening spires of Yangons Shwedagon Pagoda to the old colonial hill station of Pyin Oo Lwin, visiting the floating gardens and stilted monasteries of Inle Lake and exploring the atmospheric pagodas of the forgotten capital, Bagan, legendary Mandalay and relaxing at famous Ngapali beach.

Day 1: Yangon
After arriving Yangon Airport, you will be welcomed by our tour guide and transferred to your hotel for check-in. Enjoy a full day private tour to explore the colonial heritage of one of Southeast Asias most impressive capitals, basking in its unique spiritual atmosphere. We will drive through the city and stop at China town and India quarter to take a stroll to get a sense of the city - not just its wide boulevards and British colonial architecture - but the small alleys and byways lined with shops and stalls. Stop to greet the vendors and let them introduce you to their wares - some familiar, some exotic.
The tour continues to Chauk Htat Kyi, a huge reclining Buddha image, followed by a photo stop at the Karaweik Hall royal floating barge. Nothing will prepare you for Shwedagon Pagoda, with its glittering gold stupa that Rudyard Kipling called "a golden mystery...a beautiful twinkling wonder." At the pagoda we observe local pilgrims and monks offering their devotions and enjoy the amazing sunset view at Shwedagon pagoda.
Day 2: Yangon - Golden Rock
Leaving Yangon in the morning, enjoy a scenic journey by road to Golden Rock (Drive via Bago: 194 km - 5 hours). Late morning, arrive at Golden Rock base camp and transfer to transit junction with one of the small open trucks in a one hour ride. The 'upper area' must be traveled by foot, at present, and the walk is approximately 4 km (1 hour). If you wish to take a more comfortable approach, you can sit back and be carried in sedan chairs by four porters. Once at the pagoda, you can enjoy a spectacular view, which is particularly beautiful at sunrise or sunset. The whole site has a magical feeling.
Day 3: Golden Rock Bago Yangon
After breakfast, drive back to Yangon by passing Bago, an ancient Mon capital city. On arrival in Bago, visit to local colorful morning market. Continue visit to over a thousand years old, Shwemawdaw Pagoda. Proceed to Shwe Tha Lyaung Pagoda, reclining Buddha, which is among one of the country's most impressive image statue, is 180 feet long and 52 feet high.
Continue to Yangon and on the way you will have chance to look at the beautiful Myanmar countryside with views of rice fields and small villages. En route visit the Allied War Graves Cemetery near Htauk Kyan, the final resting place for over 27,000 allied soldiers.
Day 4: Yangon - Mandalay Amarapura
Transfer to the airport for your flight to legendary Mandalay, a city of great cultural importance. It was the last Burmese capital before the British took over and moved the capital to Yangon. Upon arrive in Mandalay visit a 200-year-old teak bridge and famous Buddhist monastery, home to over 1000 monks.
This afternoon visit the second most sacred image in Myanmar next to the Shwedagon Pagoda is the Mahamuni Pagoda. Next visit Golden palace Monastery famous for its intricate woodcarvings. Continue to the Kuthodaw Pagoda, which is known as the world largest book due to the Buddhist scripture carved on 729 marble slabs. Then climb up to the Mandalay Hill and see the best view of Mandalay from the top of Mandalay hill as the sun slowly sets.
Day 5: Mandalay - The Irrawaddy Mingun Maymyo
You cannot leave this enchanting country without getting to know its heart and soul - the magical Irrawaddy River. Boat trip on the Ayeyarwaddy River to Mingun is about 11 km (one hour each way) upriver from Mandalay. Visit the Mingun Bell, weighing 87 tons and being the world's largest intact bronze bell, the unfinished Mingun Paya (built with the intention of being the world's biggest pagoda). After lunch, drive (80 km - 2 hours) on a scenic route to Pyin Oo Lwin (Maymyo), principal hill station and summer retreat during the British colonial period, with its lovely lake, waterfalls, botanical garden and colonial era-buildings.
Day 6: Maymyo
Sightseeing in Pyin Oo Lwin starts with a visit to downtown colonial-era buildings and the central market. Unique, brightly painted miniature stagecoaches, drawn by lively teams of horses, are waiting to carry travelers to the National Kandawgyi Gardens, the beautiful botanical gardens of Maymyo. The journey by stagecoaches takes approximately 25 minutes. Visit the botanical gardens. The cooler weather allows many flowers and fruits, commonly found in temperate climates, to thrive here. After lunch proceed to Peik Chin Myaung Cave, since ancient times a Buddhist shrine. Stop at a winemaking workshop before returning by road to Mandalay.
Day 7: Bagan
After breakfast, fly to Bagan considered one of the greatest sights of Asia! Located on the lush delta plain, Bagan was once a great royal city with over 13,000 temples. Although the majority of the temples have been destroyed, ancient temples still dot the landscape as far as the eye can see. Hundreds of temples and pagodas, from simple to magnificent, spread over 40 square kilometers.
Begin our exploration of Bagan by visiting a busy local market to see the vast variety of fresh fruit and vegetables for sale and gain an insight into the bustling market atmosphere in Bagan and continuing with visits to a diverse selection of the most important pagodas and temples such as Ananda Temple, one of the largest, best preserved, and most revered temples in Bagan. Also visit a local lacquerware workshop, where we watch men and women ply their craft using traditional methods.
Mid-afternoon enjoy lunch by the pool before venturing out again for our afternoon walk. We end our walk by climbing to the top of the Temple for sunset views. Sit back relax and be amazed by the beauty of Bagan as you watch the sun slowly set behind the ancient Pagodas.
Day 8: Bagan & Villages
Today see the real way of life for most Myanmar people by visiting Phwar Saw Village. This village is a perfect example of how locals live, but most importantly you will be able to see the intimacy of the villagers toward one another, and any foreign guests. We will visit local home and observe their daily home cooking style. Late afternoon, you will explore Bagan from a different perspective as you explore the area by Pony cart. The cart can explore areas that cars are unable to enter giving a different feel of Bagan. This evening take a relaxing at Bupaya on the banks of the Irrawaddy to watch the life on the river as the sun slowly sets in the background.
Day 9: Bagan- Mount Popa- Bagan
In the morning drive (45 km drive) to Mount Popa, an extinct volcano with spectacular views, 4981 feet above sea level. Here you will see the colorful image of all the 37 Nats (Spirits). 777 steps lead up to the Buddhist shrine place on the top of the Popa peak. On the top of mountain there are monasteries, pagoda and shrines indifferent styles.
In the evening back to Bagan.
Day 10: Bagan - Heho - Inle Lake
After breakfast, fly to Heho, our gateway to Inle Lake. Known as the most beautiful lake in Myanmar, Inle Lake's calm waters are surrounded by high hills and dotted with floating gardens and stilted villages. Upon arrival proceed to by road to Pindaya and visit Pinday Caves, a unique site housing thousand of Buddha images places there by pilgrims and devotes over the centuries. Then drive to NyaungShwe and transfer to your hotel for check in.
Day 11: Inle Lake Indein
Morning visit to a village where a 5-day market is held to witness Shan ethnic tribes who come to buy and sell a variety of goods. Also visit the beautiful temples of Indein and the village situated through covered passage to the summit overlooking the lake it is a peaceful and tranquil place. These temples are unusually similar to Khmer in style and date back to 17th & 18th century Shan Pagoda. Late afternoon, return to Inle Lake and transfer back to Hotel.
Day 12: Inle Lake Ngapali Beach
In the morning, return to Nyaung Shwe and continue to Heho for the flight to Ngapali. Transfer from Thandwe Airport to Ngapali Beach 20 minutes away. Here, in the Bay of Bengal is the beautiful beach of Ngapali with its charming fishing village and coconut trees. Relax on the beach or for the more active, enjoy various sports such as snorkeling, surfing, golf or cycling.
Day 13: Ngapali Beach
Whole day leisure on the beach for sun bathing, swimming and strolling along the white sand beach. And visit near by fishing villages by bicycle or boat.
Day 14: Ngapali Beach Yangon
Breakfast at the hotel and enjoy the beach until transfer to Thandwe Airport for flight to Yangon. Upon arrival to Yangon, enjoy a visit Scott Market (Bogyoke Aung San Market) the sprawling 70-year-old Market. At the market you will find a whole variety of interesting Burmese souvenirs, from lacquer ware to gems & jewelry - bargain at the stores to fully experience the Burmese market atmosphere!
Day 15: Yangon - Departure
In the morning, visit the over 100 year old beautiful Rangoon Synagogue. In there you will have the opportunity to meet with Trustee of the Synagogue to hear the brief history of Burmese Jewish Community and some interesting stories. Other amazing features of this incredible synagogue are the 120 years two old Torah from Baghdad, Iraq, Souvenir shop where you can see Burmese handmade Jewish items and historical photos of the Synagogue and community.
If time permit visit to the Gem Museum. The Gem Museum is meant to impress - and does! It is home to the world's largest sapphire, the world's largest natural pearl, the world's largest rough ruby, and much more. The museum also contains three floors of licensed gem stalls selling both precious and semiprecious jewelry and loose stones as well as souvenir pieces. Return to Hotel and prepare for international flight to Thailand.
