Trekking Tour - From 1 to 3 Days

For those looking to add a taste of adventure to a Myanmar tour, these guided soft trek tours are a great introduction to the culture and scenery of the Shan States. Walking from village to village through spectacular highland scenery, you’ll be presented with stunning views and exceptional cultural encounters.

 

Day Return: Pindaya Trekking 

After breakfast, trekking will start at 8:00 am to Sikya-inn Danu village, taking approx. 2 hours. Take a rest for a while, have snack and green tea. Then onwards to hike to Yasakyi village where hill tribe Palaung live. It takes another one and a half hour (4 km) and upon arrival there around noon, we’ll have boxed-lunch and rest in a monastery. Then, time to stroll in the village and discover their ways of life. On return, we will trek a different way, gazing at the evergreen scenery en route and visit Linne-inn and Taung-paw-gyi Danu villages. Total trekking hour 4/5.

 

Day Return: Kalaw Trekking
Depart from Kalaw in the morning about 8:00 and after 2 & 1/2 hours walking distance, through small ranges with tea-leaf and cheroot-leaf plantations, approach to Ywar Thit village to meet local villagers Danu people. Then proceed to Tar Yaw village of Palaung people. TarYaw village is reputed for its long houses of old style Palaung tribe. The long houses have six or eight Palaung families stay together. In the house, hand-made weaving can be seen. Proceed to view point with a small shop for picked lunch. Enjoy beautiful sceneries and panorama from view point. Total trekking hours are about 5 hrs for the whole day. 

 

2 DAYS /1 NIGHTS FROM KALAW TO INLE LAKE (Trekking Tour)

Day 1: Kalaw (Trekking)
Early morning drive to Thayepoo (appr. 1 hour), a Danu – Taung Yoe – Pa O village, the starting point for the 2 days trekking trip to Khaung Dine. Your local station tour guide Ko Paul will introduce you to the villagers along the way and will show you the traditional way of life. At Supan Inn a Danu and Taung Yoe Tribal Village you will stop for lunch. Only a 30 minutes away is a bathing place where you can have a bath and then proceed to Chaunggyi Pauk a typical Taung Yoe village. The people in this village are well known for their bamboo mattresses and handicrafts. Dinner and overnight at Chaungyi Pauk.

 

Day 2: Kalaw – Inle (Trekking)
From Chaungyi Pauk it is only a 2 ½ hours walk to the Hot Spa, the only place were you can go for a hot bath. Then proceed by bus to Khaung Dine at the north-western shore of Inle Lake. Then proceed by bus to Khaung Dine at the north-western shore of Inle Lake. This Intha village is well known for the production of soybean Cakes and noodles. From here transfer by boat to your hotel. 

 

3 DAYS /2 NIGHTS FROM KALAW TO INLE LAKE (Trekking Tour)

DAY 01 Kalaw– Shabin
Early morning start your 3 days trekking trip. The road and trail goes through beautiful scenery. On the way visit the villages of Palaung, Danu, Pao and Taung Yoe. Your local station tour guide will introduce you to the villagers and will show you the traditional ways of life. Lunch in Hinkhagone a Palaung village. The path goes up and down. Native along the way do the plantation for Tea leaves, Coffee, Cordial leaves, Mustard, Ginger, Malt Rice, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Sesame. Late afternoon you will arrive to Shabin a typical Danu village with 12th Century old wooden monastery. Dinner and overnight in the village.

 

DAY 02 Shabin – Teetain
After your breakfast at the monastery continue your trekking trip. It is about 7 hours trekking. The people in this area grow fruits; Arvogado, Banana, Oranges, Jack fruits, Papaya. You will have the chance to see the crab apple trees along the way together with some shady Banyan trees. Lunch at Pawke a Pao village. After lunch you have to walk for another 3½ hours to Teetain a typical Pao village. Native along this way do the plantation especially for Ginger. Dinner and overnight in the village.

 

DAY 03 Teetain – Thandaung  – Inle Lake
After breakfast continue the 5 hours trekking trip to the shore of the Inle lake. The trail goes through beautiful scenery of Bamboo forest. The natives of Pao, Taung Yoe and Intha along the way grow fruits; Banana, Papaya, Potato and Beans. Lunch at lower Thandaung village. In the afternoon transfer by boat to your hotel. Rest of the day free at your own leisure. Overnight at Inle Lake.

 

3 DAYS /2 NIGHTS FROM KALAW TO PINDAYA (Trekking Tour)

Day 1 – Kalaw to Pindaya Trekking
Today you will start your trekking in the direction of Pindaya, hiking past several traditional villages of the Palaung tribe. They are thought to be the earliest inhabitants of Myanmar, and they still live a very traditional lifestyle. You will learn about the seasonal crops they grow, which include the leaves used to produce the ubiquitous cheroots. Early arriving arrive a local monastery where you will enjoy dinner and a welcomed chance to relax.  Overnight at village monastery.

 

Day 2 – Trekking the Pindaya Highlands
The trek to Pindaya continues with several stops at different tribal villages, such as Danu and Pa-o. You will get a fascinating introduction into their culture, as you learn about their ancestral customs. A boxed lunch will be enjoyed at one of the villages on the way.
Along the way you will be exposed to the spectacular natural scenery of the surrounding mountains. Stop by several villages, enjoying the sight of women in colorful ethnic clothing and experiencing more of their rural way of life. Overnight at a village monastery or local homestay.

 

Day 3 – Trekking to Pindaya
We head onwards early in the morning, passing traditional villages along the way. After lunch, complete the final downhill descent to Pindaya, a quiet town on the banks of the serene Botoloke Lake. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel for a well-deserved rest and dinner. Overnight at Golden Cave Hotel, Pindaya.
