OVERVIEW

Spend a day exploring the quiet, charming town of Syriam (Thanlyin)- witnessed a lot including, Portugese and British.   Visit the interesting pagodas, including one located on a river island, and wander amid the leafy tree-lined streets.

ITINERARY

Tour guide and driver will come and pick up at the hotel.  Drive about 45 minutes and you will visit National Races Village that aims to showcase the wealth and diversity of the country’s multi-ethnic make-up.  Continue on to Thanlyin via a 2.2km long bridge then you will reach to  vital port city during the 15th century, Syriam briefly fell under Portuguese rule in the 17th century.  It then served as the base for the French East India company before joining the British Empire.

Upon arrival, explore this pleasant town while driving around the tree-lined streets to see the main sites and get a glimpse of local life. Visit Ye Le Paya (also called Kyauktan), which is built on a small island. Take a local boat across the water to this unique temple.
In the late afternoon return back to Yangon.
